Moar Categorized Notes

**September 2 Update: Conflict, Healing Magic, Honorifics, Nicknames

If anyone would at any point like to suggest a category (Or character! I have all of my character interaction notes on "private" entries for personal reference, so it shouldn't be hard to make a summary!), please let me know!

I've decided to add a few categorized notes. The bold headings explain what each paragraph is about. Those labeled "pending" are topics that I hope to cover at some point, but really don't feel like filling in right now because it's 4 AM.

Those labeled "Canon" are things taken more-or-less directly from canon. "Island" refers to (mostly) island-only items. "Mixed" refers to things effected by both.

Voice/Speech Pattern - The Interpretation of Voice and Text
This is such an important factor that I really believe gets lost through text at times. I use the German and Japanese voice tracks for references here. Although I'm all for interpretation based on context, Iceberg's voice is generally portrayed as being extremely deep and thundering by voice actors. This matches the writing in manga well. In fact, much of his dialog is written in a large or bold font and accompanied by several exclamation marks - usually in threes. When played by an actor, his voice follows the way it's written: The "Nmaa"s that pepper his speech are said more loudly and in different pitches than most of the rest of what he says, often making them more expressive than the rest of his tones, which often remain flat and hardly shifting.

Punctuation
I've been doing my best to try and use punctuation to my advantage. Normally, "Nmaa" is written with a line of varying lengths extending from it (Presumably to indicate how long the "A" sound drags on), and it is more often than not followed by either no punctuation or several exclamation points. Due to the fact that I really don't like to use text effects other than italics most of the time, my notations often turn the emphasis down and often make them less dramatic than they probably should seem.

Tone Shift/Flow
Iceberg's voice flows fairly flatly and smoothly for the most part. The flow is sometimes but not always broken by a "Nmaa!" This is especially true when tired, in deep thought, or placed under a considerable amount of stress. The amount and expressive tones of "Nma"s tends to increase, and they can often break up his speech with long pauses in-between them and what's actually being said.

Influence by Others
The ease with which someone can influence Iceberg depends largely on his or her occupation and the amount of respect that he has for that individual. He rarely if ever tolerates questioning of his own beliefs, though - if he feels that he has adequate expertise in a subject (Construction, politics, ethics, tradition, law enforcement, forgiveness/remorse, etc.), he will be incredibly stubborn when discussing these. If he meets someone who can convince him that they are, say, a professional tailor, he will be inclined to believe more-or-less anything he or she says about the subject. This means that in a discussion, he will often blindly agree with that person and, if someone else brings the topic up, try to use whatever knowledge was passed on to him from someone who would know better.

That's sexual harassment! (Canon)
When Iceberg is first seen, he is with his secretary standing among a crowd and looking horribly disgusted (Literally making a D: face) as a group of pirate clients refuses to pay for his company's service. During the ensuing conflict, his secretary informs him that "That's sexual harassment," to which he echoes something along the lines of, "Nmaa---!!! It is sexual harassment!" Due to the frequency with which his secretary references it, there is a very good chance that something he dislikes will at some point be misidentified as sexual harassment.

DON! (Canon)
On special occasions, Iceberg may drop the phrase "With a DON!" - often in the form of telling someone who he's fond of to do something with a DON!! This is something that he picked up from Tom. "DON!" is a sound effect that happens extremely often in One Piece. In fact, it was estimated that the "DON!" sound effect was used approximately 1,469 times between chapters 1-409. When confronted about the abundance of "DON"s by a fan, the mangaka Oda stated that the "DON!" sound effect implies confidence.

Stars (Island)
Stars are an extremely common theme in Island, especially with the arrival of a small chunk of the Darker than BLACK cast. Iceberg has taken it upon himself to figure out why they're so important. This has yielded some... "Interesting" results. They originally caught his interest thanks to July, followed by Yukina, followed by Li/Hei, followed by the King of All Cosmos. Yukina established some confusing facts about wishing on stars, and the King of All Cosmos provided an even more unusual explanation, proudly showing Iceberg a Katamari and explaining its function. Because of this, his definition of exactly what stars are is pretty effed up, and he will often reference "That King" when discussing stars with someone. This caused some amount of confusion when using Li/Hei's telescope.

Idiocy (Mixed)
(Pending)

Animals (Mixed)
(Pending)

Emotional Situations (Own Emotions) (Canon)
When faced with a strong wave of his own emotions, it tends to show physically. If it's extremely strong, his hands may begin to shake or he'll turn his back to the person with whom he is speaking. During such times he may also use his hands to cover up his face or his hands will start to shake uncontrollably. There is also even a good chance that he will simply burst into tears at some point during a conversation. In general, though, he will do his best to try and hide his own emotions.

Emotional Situations (Others' Emotions) (Canon)
Iceberg is absolutely terrible at dealing with other peoples' emotions. He becomes extremely easily frustrated by emotional people and will often make things significantly worse by shouting at or generally scolding them, being a huge jerk, or drywalling them.

Powers (Mixed)
(Pending)

General Island Frustrations (Island)
(Pending)

Resistance Against Island Idiocy (Island)
(Pending)

Business (Canon)
(Pending)

Supernatural Elements (Mixed)
(Pending)

Demons/Demon Hunters (Island)
(Pending)

Travel (Canon)
(Pending)

Sleep/Resting (Canon)
(Pending)

Curse (Island)
(Pending)

Conflict (As Witness) (Mixed)
When made a witness of a fight, Iceberg will do what he can to mediate it. If it turns too violent and/or one or both sides refuses to give it up, he will first make a very firm demand that the conflict stops. If this fails to work, he will attempt to create a distraction. If that doesn't work, there is a good chance that he'll just call the participants idiots and leave.

Conflict (As Participant) (Mixed)
When faced with someone intending to cause him physical harm, Iceberg will first express his extreme disapproval at this. The second preferred course of action will be to run like hell if the person means business (Although in this case it's likely that he'll end up being restrained before getting the chance, in which case he'll make very few efforts to struggle away). If pinned down or otherwise rendered immobile, he's been known to calmly accept his fate.

If someone else is fighting for him, Iceberg will (if capable) demand that they stop and get away immediately.

Injury/Healing Magic (Mixed)
This topic was thoroughly discussed with Ben Kenobi: Iceberg had the chance twice to have the wounds he arrived with healed by two different individuals and refused both offers. The reasoning behind this is that he wishes to not develop a reliance on healing magic, since it's not always going to be available for every time he gets himself into a situation that hurts him. He claims that healing seems to be addictive, and it takes away from the experience of being hurt and thus encourages idiocy. As much as he appreciates the presence of those who can use healing magic, he will strongly refuse to have it performed on him under any circumstance.

Food (Mixed)
(Pending)

Booze (Canon)
(Pending)

Honorifics (Canon)
Canonically, Iceberg rarely if ever uses honorifics. Whether this is intended as a part of his immaturity/disrespect for/his familiarity with those who he actually bothers to call by name or not is up in the air. It's been noted that the only ones who he refers to with a tone of great respect are Tom and Kokoro. Due to my extreme distaste for characters who aren't actually supposed to be Japanese using Japanese honorifics, however, I tend to favor titles given in the German translation or simply emphasize the amount of respect (Or lack thereof) for a person based on their name, nickname, or simply context.

Nicknames (Canon)
Iceberg is terrible with names and will often refer to anyone who he is not incredibly familiar with by a nickname. The nickname that someone receives tends to depend on his or her age and whatever occupation he or she has. Failing that, names will be given based on some memorable characteristic that that person possesses. He may remember part of a name, in which case he may refer to them as some part of the name followed or preceded by "Something." (ie Shibuya may be called "Shi-something.")

Romance (Island)
(Pending)

Friendship (Mixed)
(Pending)

Weather (Mixed)
(Pending)

Rivalry (Mixed)
(Pending)

Politics (Canon)
(Pending)

Technology (Mixed)
(Pending)

Guide to Whoring/Meme stolen from Fletcher/Settei

Why hallo thar ladies and non-ladies.

First order of business: I collected some sweet-ass Settei Pre images. There may be more in the future. Go go JPEG compression!

Second order of business: It has recently been established that Iceberg has the willingness and the materials to whore out his mad carpentry skillz. The following is a short set of guidelines for not getting accused of sexual harassment (more on this later.)

Getting started
I will actively attempt to seek out threads in which someone is having difficulties constructing something, however I will not tag them all by default because that would be silly. Offers of assistance will either be entirely random or based on prior in-character relationship (ie more likely to approach a friend or a known friend of a friend about something.). If you'd like to make a special request for in-character whoring, drop me a message (see contact post or respond to this post).

Stuff to Build
Keep in mind that his specialty is ships - what you ask for doesn't necessarily have to be a house or a piece of furniture!

Questions
After an offer of assistance is accepted (if it is), there are several questions that Iceberg will want to ask if he doesn't already know you (Or maybe even if he does). These are generally very simple questions and are asked out of pure curiosity, such as requesting a person's name or occupation. There will also be many questions asked regarding the design and shape of whatever you're requesting. As mundane as these questions are, your answers could very well leave a lasting impression on him. :3

Payment
Hahaha, like the elusive carpenter on an island full of warriors and students and such is going to offer his services for free. This will most often either be the first or last thing that he tries to work out with someone. I've made this fairly reasonable/accessible - as was mentioned in his application, Iceberg is a spoiled city boy who's lived in the same place his entire life and mostly relied on moving up the social ladder and gaining peoples' favor to get by. As such, he's very much accustomed to other people (Mostly his secretary) doing basically everything for him, thus making him pretty clueless when it comes to actually taking care of himself. Therefore, the default price for assistance is food. Fruit will be specifically requested (He claimed to Kaoru that he hasn't been given anything else in such a long time that it may be upsetting.). This way, characters can receive professional help in exchange for something that's extremely common! Yay! \o/

Pricing Dependency
If you're going to want something absurdly elaborate or time-consuming, he will, unless he friggin' adores you (Which is pretty unlikely) or owes you big time (This is much more likely), ask for something in addition to the default demand. Such things may include simple favors, or something difficult-to-find such as ink (or, if your character dares to be creative, an ink substitute - I've thought of some OOC, but refrained from using these ideas IC.) or smooth paper (or, again, a suitable substitute.).

Expectations
It would be idealistic to believe that everyone will uphold their end of the deal. If someone doesn't, they may be accused of sexual harassment (No, seriously. I'll explain this later.), and things will more than likely slow down majorly or come to a complete stop. The only 100% guarantee is that your character will get bitched at unless he or she has one damn good reason for not holding up their side. Loud bitching with a mouse squeaking in agreement will ensue.

Pacing/Skill
The pace of work depends on how much assistance is being given, ie if your character or another is taking up lumberjack duty, things will go much more quickly and smoothly. Iceberg is said to be the greatest carpenter in the One Piece world, so, uh, expect screwups to be very rare/nonexistent? He also, canonically, works fast as hell. Despite this, I would like things to take a somewhat reasonable amount of time (during which, for the sake of consistency, unless it is noted that your character is neglecting to meet his demands, he will refrain from wandering off and chatting with random people around the island. In other words, for a certain period of time, unless there is a thread at the site where the work is being done or there is some kind of very important thing going on, there won't be any posting/threading that isn't relevant to what's being worked on.)

Resting
It's also been canonically shown that while he generally recognizes when he needs to rest, if whatever he's working on is of great importance to him (Again, this is very unlikely), he may very well work until he just passes out.

Mun Preferences
Mun likes to be ridiculously thorough. Because of this, I may request an annoyingly high amount of details OOC pertaining to what's going on IC. Please be patient with me - keep in mind that I was famous at Gyakusai_RP for enormous walls of text like this one!

Age: 38

Height: Quite tall. Estimated to be in the mid 6-foot range, as Luffy is 5'7 and generally reaches somewhere between Iceberg's chest height and shoulder height. Will update if official height chart is released.

Weight: Probably can't be all that heavy - He gets thrown/carried/kicked around a lot, and it doesn't seem to involve considerable effort. Then again this is shonen.

Medical Info: Nothing notable comes to mind other than past injuries.

Eyes: Er... Dark?

Hair: Royal Blue

Physical traits: Pale; has dark, bizarrely womanly looking lips and a thin beard; looks fairly unhappy most of the time; left hand seems to gravitate toward and hook itself around his own right hip for some reason; sometimes (rarely) uses a small pair of reading glasses; hair has a single perpetual curl in it.

If caught shirtless for whatever reason (This will rarely if ever happen voluntarily): Expect some scars from getting shot a bunch of times, hurr. Also, has dark red tattoos that run from his shoulders to about the middle of his biceps.

What's Okay To Mention Around Him/Her: Anything at all. If his hands start shaking, this tends to mean that continuing the line of conversation is going to in some way or another make him completely freak the hell out (Which could be anything from yelling to switching to "acting like a little kid" mode to bursting into tears).

Abilities: Mad carpentry skillz. Can create snazzy blueprints.

Notes for the Psychics: If at any given point you need a thought, don't hesitate to let me know. Iceberg tends to think more than he lets on. Sometimes.

Can I shapeshift/bodyswap/spit at/step on/etc?: Go right ahead.

Maim/Murder/Death: Anything you want, really. He's not really a stranger to being physically abused in numerous ways/having people wanting to kill him.

Cooking: Haahahahahaha no. Can make fires, though. That's got to be worth a few points.

Who Knows What/The Truth (Abridged/WIP)

Historical
July is the only person on the island with whom Iceberg has discussed Tom in any amount of detail, although he has been passively mentioned (unnamed) in conversations with Young!Yukina, Timon, Dexter, and Johan. References to Franky have been made to July (Young!Iceberg mentioned him by name), Senri, and November. References to assassination have been made to several people, although some do have more details than others. Different people are receiving different details. As an example, November was told about smaller details such as the exact amount of gunshots wounds received. Dexter was told that the assassination was premeditated and that the assassins were from an unspecified group that "Messes with the wrong people." Yukina now knows that the assassins intended to take an heirloom.

Overall, most of the information given has been in pretty little detail: No explanation of how Tom died, little more than hints about the nature of his assassins, nothing about the outlawing of history or framing people or any of that good stuff. About as much detail as a newspaper article, basically.

If anyone's curious about what actually happened, I am putting together, in as much detail as possible but not horrifically long, Iceberg's life story. With pictures!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

OK SO

Iceberg was raised along with Franky by Tom, who is a fish. Man. Fishman. And Kokoro, a mermaid. Tom was arrested for building the most kickass pirate ship in the world, but was pardoned when he said that he wanted to complete one last project - a train that runs on the sea. He and Iceberg (and eventually Franky too) built it, and it was totally awesome and everyone loved it and it saved their island's economy and so-on.

It was all cool except a crazy-ass government agent named Spandam found out about the blueprints for an ancient superweapon that Tom happened to have. Wanting to of course build an insane killing machine, Spandam devised a plot to, in some way or another, have Tom and his apprentices arrested and/or killed. Essentially, he attacked the island-city and framed Tom and the apprentices, spectacularly maiming Tom and Iceberg in the process.

Tom reached a compromise with the judge that freed his apprentices, but the government still decided that he needed to be whacked. He was shipped off to the execution grounds in his own train, and Franky, in a desperate attempt to save Tom, tried to stop the train. With a rocket launcher. And eventually his own hands. This did not go well. He actually did survive the incident, but was officially declared dead.

Iceberg inherited the blueprints for the insane superweapon and kept them well-hidden. Fast-forward a few years, Iceberg wows everyone with his mad carpentry skills and becomes President of the Galley-La Shipbuilding Company and eventually mayor of the island of Water 7. Rad. Franky visits him. After much yelling at each other, Iceberg passed the blueprints on to Franky, ending the conversation with... Aw hell, this one needs a picture.

After this, things go pretty well. Iceberg learns to act like an annoying little kid whenever government agents pester him about the blueprints, and due to his political power on the island, he seems to be untouchable. Seems.

The Straw-Hat pirate group arrives innocently enough on Water 7, although something about them bothers Iceberg - the presence of Nico Robin. Robin's deal is that she can read ancient language, namely the one that the crazy superweapon instructions are written in. Not only are such historical documents banned by the World Government, but Iceberg also never wants this thing to get built for any reason ever because he doesn't trust people. Still, he treats the Straw-Hats decently enough, hoping to just do business with them and send them on their way.

Well, that didn't happen. Nico Robin and a masked man, coerced by government agents, break into Iceberg's home and shoot him five times. Ow. He identifies Nico Robin later, and all hell breaks loose. The Straw-Hats learn the important lesson that you do not mess with this guy or his employees, among other people, will have your head.

---------------------------------------------------
To be continued because I'm lazy :I

Info Sheet

FIRST, CONTACT INFO
In case you don't feel like leafing through this little guide or I inadequately worded something, I'll stick my contact info right at the beginning of this post!

AIM: "Dance With Merle" (ALWAYS HIDDEN. Just send me a message - last I checked, I can receive offline messages. AIM name subject to change to a special character one if need for it pops up.)

E-Mail: Madril at gmail.com. I have a big ol' notifier, so I'll catch anything you send me as soon as I look at my computer!

I DO have LJ message notifications turned on, so I will know right away when someone responds to something I've posted.

About One Piece
One Piece is a Shonen anime/manga series. Most, if not all of the information within my profile and this info sheet will be taken from the manga canon, which in this case really doesn't differ in any way from anime canon.

One Piece is basically the story of a group of strange pirates whose captain, Monkey D. Luffy, is in search of the island Raftel (The home of the famous treasure One Piece) at the end of the Grand Line, a strip of unique islands. Luffy's group has brought quite a bit of attention to themselves, and even though they haven't really done anything particularly criminal or evil (Quite the opposite, actually), the government is constantly after them for the simple reason that they're pirates. Rival pirates, and there are a lot of them, also frequently serve as obstacles to the crew.

Objects To Know
There are a few odd/unique names that may in one way or another get a name drop.

Tom
A jolly Fish-man who taught Iceberg basically all he knows about carpentry: His role model.

Galley-La Company
Company run by Iceberg that builds high-quality ships using super special awesome techniques. Their logo appears to be a curly silhouette of a ship: Iceberg has a red pattern of similar shapes tattooed on his upper arms and shoulders. Galley-La is the combined effort of seven companies that were united under Iceberg.

Water 7
A huge island/city in the Grand Line vaguely resembling Venice: Iceberg is its beloved Mayor. There are waterways leading to almost every part of the city, and it is topped by a huge fountain. The name Water 7 comes from the fact that there used to be seven shipbuilding companies, but they were eventually merged by Iceberg. There are still numbered docks, Number One being the largest and most prestigious.

The city has an extremely diverse and ever-changing population. It is a popular destination for all sorts of travelers due to the reputation of its shipwrights. "Travelers" also includes pirates, who sometimes cause an uproar. They are swiftly brought down by the Galley-La shipwrights, who seem to be the equivalent of a police force.

Despite the control and benevolence of the Galley-La company shipwrights, there was an underground syndicate in existence: The Franky Family. Run by Iceberg's childhood friend/rival, this group destroyed ships and robbed travelers. Most of Water 7 fears this group, especially their leader. Recently, the Franky Family's leader left Water 7, and they were all offered jobs from the Galley-La company.

Puffing Tom/Sea Train
A train that runs on a track over the sea. This was Tom's last major building project, and it remains an incredible piece of machinery to this day. It is run by Kokoro, a mermaid and a personal friend of Iceberg.

Log Pose
Mentioned (and frequently explained) in my first post, a Log Pose is a hollow glass sphere with a needle suspended in it. Like a compass, it always points to the island that it is configured to point at. There are two main kinds -

Normal Log Poses, which are usually un-labeled: These Poses will point to a certain island after a certain period of time in that location. Every island has a different amount of time that it takes to register its location. These are usually favored by pirates.

Eternal Poses, which always, ALWAYS point to a certain island. They often come in a wooden frame with a name plate indicating the name of the island that it points to. They are most often used by Marines or by people with a home or affinity on a specific island.

Den Den Mushi
This is One Piece's telephone. It's a snail, and you talk into it, and another snail sends your voice and copies your expression to the person you're talking to. They usually greatly resemble their owners, and seem to come in two sizes: a relatively large phone, or a compact mobile version that is often worn on the wrist. There are a few specialized versions (such as one specifically meant for wiretapping), but these are pretty uncommon.

Berī
The currency of One Piece. Berī is paper money used in the One Piece world. Its spelling is often disputed, so I'll stick to the best phonetic spelling I can figure out.

Devil Fruit
Devil Fruits are weird-ass fruits that give the person who eats them a special ability - in exchange for their ability to swim. It is said that a Devil Fruit contains a devil (hence the name), and that once a devil enters a person, the sea hates them for it. A Devil Fruit can give someone the ability to alter their body (stretching, splitting into pieces, growing extra limbs, etc.), turn into an animal (either partially or fully), or turn themselves into something usually classified as something natural such as sand, ice, or fire.

Geography
The regions of the One Piece world consist mostly of the "Blues," which are just big ol' seas with lots of islands. There's the North, South, East, and West Blues - their names are based on their locations in comparison with the two "Lines" - the Red Line a continent that circles the world in the North and South, and the Grand Line, an island chain that circles the world in the East and West.

A few character details
I'm sticking a few details in here that may pop up in-character that are buried in my application post somewhere for easy accessibility.

Tyrannosaurus
Tyrannosaurus is a white mouse that follows Iceberg everywhere. He can often be found climbing around on Iceberg's shoulder, in his shirt pocket, or just generally climbing around on him. Iceberg is extremely protective of him.

Nmaa
Iceberg frequently says "Nma" before saying anything else. Sometimes it is translated as “Well” but I prefer to leave it as something more of a noise than a word.

<strike>The Bandages
Iceberg was pretty recently shot six times. Even if/when he's totally recovered, chances are he probably wouldn't know when to take the bandages off anyway.</strike>

Gunshots
If you would like me to show you where exactly Iceberg was shot for any reason, please let me know! I can pinpoint basically all of the shots except two.

Violence
Iceberg does NOT like violence and rarely condones it. There are occasions where he feels that it can be justified, but they are few and far between.

Secrecy
Iceberg is an excellent liar, especially when it comes to making huge understatements or covering things up. A true politician. o/'

Blood tells the truth
Lie detector tests work like a charm. When lying about certain things, Iceberg's pulse skyrockets.

Living Conditions
Iceberg is used to living in a mansion in a huge city where everyone loves him and would do just about anything for him. Needless to say, this island is going to be hard to get used to.

Young!Iceberg!
Young!Iceberg is much different than his older self. Essentially, he's about a million times more serious and condescending as a kid.

Your character's name: Iceberg (No other name given)
Series your character's from: One Piece
Background:
Serving as the Mayor of the island Water 7 and President/Manager of the Galley-La shipbuilding company, his skill and loyalty earned him the love and respect of his fellow citizens and shipwrights – to the point that many of them risk their lives for his honor and safety. His skill is often overshadowed by his immaturity - in one famous example, when Iceberg's secretary gave him a list of tasks to be done, he responded by shouting, "I don't wanna!" In other cases, he is known for tearing up his mail if he dislikes it, pretending he isn't home if someone he dislikes wants to speak with him, and for taking care of a random animal that he finds. In reality, his immaturity and ignorance are an act – he is well regarded by his peers as the most skilled carpenter in the world. Why does Iceberg play stupid? To conceal potentially deadly information from the government, of course!

Iceberg spent his childhood and early adulthood with the young Cutty Flam ("Franky") as the apprentices of the exceedingly jolly and world-famous shipwright Tom. While Franky spent most of his time building miniature battleships, Iceberg spent his learning from Tom and scolding Franky for his stupidity. The (relative) peace of things was suddenly disrupted when Tom was arrested - the World Government put him on trial for the construction of Oro Jackson, a famous pirate ship. Tom brought forth a proposal - he would build a revolutionary new system of transportation if the government let him free. Within the time spent building this system, strange men from a secret police force known as CP5 frequently visited Tom and always left in a rage. These men desired a valuable and dangerous blueprint possessed by Tom - the instructions to build an ancient battleship, Pluton.

The building of the new transportation system, a train that runs over the sea called "Puffing Tom," was a success and resurrected Water 7's dying economy. As the government's Judiciary ship was making its way to Water 7 to place its final judgment on Tom, something strange happened - Men hired by CP5 hijacked a group of "Battle Franky" ships and attacked the city, injuring both Iceberg and Tom in the process. Iceberg placed the blame firmly on Franky, claiming that he would never offer forgiveness for hurting Tom.

From that point, things got even worse. Government officials arrested Tom, Franky, and Iceberg. The Judge presented Tom with a choice: He could be pardoned for the crime of building the Oro Jackson, or his apprentices could be pardoned for attacking Water 7. The verdict was announced - Tom was to be taken to the prison Impel Down and executed and his apprentices set free. Due to Franky's feeling of responsibility for Tom's arrest, he worked to prevent it as much as possible, supposedly dying in the process.

Before Tom's departure, Iceberg was entrusted with the blueprints to the legendary ship that the government sought after. Knowing the dangers of owning such blueprints, he concealed the fact that he owned them from even his closest associates. Four years after Tom's death, though, something strange happened - Cutty Flam requested to see Iceberg. Meeting in secret, Iceberg handed off the plans for the weapon to his childhood rival, reminding Franky that he will never be forgiven for building the ships that resulted in Tom's conviction, but tearfully announcing his happiness upon discovering that he was alive.

The government continued to harass Iceberg about the blueprints, to which he responded by feigning ignorance, claiming to be away from home, or simply refusing to comment.

The arrival of the "Straw-hat" pirate crew triggered the most dramatic and violent portion of the government's plan to retrieve the blueprints. Iceberg was found on the floor of the Galley-La main office (his home) one morning with five bullet wounds (Two in the front, three in the back.). This assassination attempt from Nico Robin and overseen by a masked man put Water 7 in a state of panic, and forced Iceberg to reveal his seriousness and intelligence.

The assassins reappeared, and almost immediately upon their entry another of their' bullets pierced Iceberg's left shoulder. His main guardians were distracted by strange costumed figures (or in some cases, *being* those costumed figures). The man accompanying Robin exited, claiming that he had other business to deal with, leaving Iceberg and Robin alone. The two quickly drew pistols at each other, Iceberg explaining that through Robin’s knowledge and his skill, the government would undoubtedly rebuild the Pluton ship which would inevitably result in a massive power struggle and unfathomable destruction. To avoid such a devastating event, he claimed, he would have to kill Robin, the only living person who could read the language written on the blueprints. She quickly disarmed him and once again held him at gunpoint, asking if he had anything else to say. To this he simply responded that she had been deceived. Robin quickly summoned her associates to meet in the bedroom to discuss this problem.

When the group assembled, they each unmasked themselves - most of them had been employed at the Galley-La Company for a period of about five years. These individuals, after finding fake blueprints for the ship, performed a makeshift lie detector test using Iceberg's pulse and a series of questions to find the true location of the blueprints. Unable to hide his agitation, his pulse skyrocketed, indicating his lies. Suddenly, the remaining Straw-hat pirates, along with Paulie, burst into the room and had a brief conflict with the CP9 members that ultimately resulted in Iceberg and Paulie being tied together in a flaming building and rescued by the Strawhats' reindeer. Yeah.

To make the incident even more of a pain in the ass, the annual "Aqua Laguna," essentially a ginormous storm that usually destroys or damages the entire city, was worse than ever this year. CP9 detained Franky, and the Straw-Hats, teaming up with the Franky Family, set out to rescue their friends.

When the Straw-hat Pirates returned, Iceberg met with Franky and described a massive building project that he wanted to accomplish - to take after their collective hero Tom and build something innovative to improve the lives of the people living in Water 7. He revealed his plan to, essentially, make Water 7 into a giant ship so that it would never flood or sink again. In addition to this, he also indicated that he finally forgave Franky for giving the government a scapegoat to take Tom away.

Overall, Iceberg is (supposedly) exceedingly easy to deal with if he likes or is neutral with someone, and next to impossible to deal with if he dislikes them. He's kind of loud and will often completely change or end a conversation on a whim. He hates violence, and will rarely if ever resort to it. In addition to this, he will not hesitate to shout down anyone who needlessly triggers conflict, calling them insulting names depending on the severity of their actions ("Idiot" being minor or endearing, "Brat" being one of the more severe.). His title as the "greatest carpenter in the world" is well-deserved, although his ability beyond carpentry is limited - he often relies on others to complete more practical tasks for him. Rather than having any special combat techniques, Iceberg is used to having scores of powerful shipwrights guarding him at all times.

*Notes regarding speech pattern:
Iceberg frequently says "Nma" before saying anything else. Sometimes it is translated as “Well,” but I prefer to leave it as something more of a noise than a word.

He may also refer to doing something “With a DON!” if he is extremely enthusiastic about it. This was his mentor Tom’s catchphrase; however, when Iceberg used it to describe his plan to make Water 7 into a ship, Franky stated that it was very fitting.

Sample
Nmaa! What a boring day! I haven’t heard a single argument or running machine, had any papers to sign, had any important visitors, canceled any meetings... Had any meetings to cancel, even, for hours now. I never thought I’d miss politics so much, but I hate having nothing to do like this! I can’t even work on or inspect anything, when I have nothing to work with or inspect. Nma. Either way, I have to at least find something to do before this gets any more boring. I guess I could start drawing blueprints on my hand to pass the time while I figure out something better to do.

I wonder if this island needs a mayor? (Tyrannosaurus squeaks in protest) Nma, it probably doesn't. I don't even see any big buildings or ships here, so they probably don't need a mayor, either.

... No big buildings or ships? Nmaa, I could offer to change that.

A list of things your character might have on them after they got snatched up and put on this island:
-Clothes (Has an affinity for vertical stripes and bright colors)
<strike>-A whole lot of bandages (Mostly on his head, left shoulder, and chest)</strike>
-A white bandanna
-A quill pen
-A white mouse named Tyrannosaurus that follows him everywhere.
-A pair of reading glasses
